Sue Ellen

Hi - We adopted "Sue Ellen" (Australian Shepherd/Lab/Heeler) at the Petsmart Adoption Event back in May, and we just wanted to tell you how well she's doing. She now goes by "Ollie", and has an older brother, Chomperz (Basenji?/Shepherd/Everything else), who she loves to pick on now that she's bigger than he is! Their favorite activities include chasing toads in the backyard and seeing who can chew a toy into the smallest pieces, as well as racing - NASCAR style - around the house (using the couch as a banked turn!) and escaping the spacious backyard to go for a swim in the pond and use those hunting instincts to try and catch the ducks. They act just like brothers and sisters, getting on each others nerves once in awhile and picking on one another to get the other to play back. We're happy to have stopped by Petsmart that day to buy some dog food, and even happier to have come home with an awesome new puppy, who's grown into a fearless young dog that thinks she can take on the world - including the reigning king of the house, Chomperz. Enjoy the attached pictures!

Caramel
Caramel

Hi Priscilla, I have been wanting to e-mail you since we returned home to let you know how the dogs are doing. They are wonderful! They are some of the most well behaved, mellow puppies I have ever met. We changed their names - Butterscotch is now 'Waterloo' & Caramel is 'Waverly'. Waverly was at my veterinarian's most of Monday getting x-rays. Unfortunately, we didn't get good news. He needs surgery & that is the only thing that is going to help him. We will have to take him to Madison, WI to the Veterinary teaching hospital & it is going to cost around $3400 per wrist. We have decided that we are going to go ahead with the surgery (but we arent going to tell anyone how much it is costing). Oh-one thing that surprised both us & the vets - the pups are 5 months old & Dr. Gary doesn't think they will get past 45lbs. We don't care. We have totally fallen in love with them - they are incredibly sweet.

Lollipop
Lollipop

Lolli was born into a family who loved her and her siblings very much but they didn't have the resources to spay and neuter any of their dogs. When the family was turned in for having too many dogs they called the Waverly Humane Society. We were asked to take the dogs and puppies so they wouldn't be confiscated and euthanized. Waverly Humane Society took all 17 animals (the one cat went to Tigeracat Rescues). All animals were altered, vaccinated, tested, microchipped and placed in foster homes. We are pleased to say that all the animals have found fabulous homes and are well loved by their new families. Thank You for doing the right thing.

Midnight
Midnight

Midnight was caught in a trap because he was going through the garbage in the neighborhood. He stayed with me for a few weeks and when no one claimed him we took him to be neutered. He was found to be already neutered so we updated his vaccinations and gave him his microchip. Then his blood test came back Feline Leukemia Positive. The vet wanted to euthanize him right then but he was such a sweet cat and showing no other signs of illness, we couldn't do it. We brought him home and just a few days later his owner showed up! This cat, who we guessed to be around 5 years old... was actually 10 years old! Had Midnight had a microchip, he would have been returned to his owner on day one. I'm glad he has a chip now.
